"Thankyou to everyone who kindly filled out the questionnaire, it was very helpful.

I was able to identify and cover the areas which concern people most, and make sure that I hadn't missed any important issues.

The results are available in the form of the self referencing directory of ecological terms and textile terms on my wetpaint wiki.

I would be grateful if any further information, corrections and additions to the glossary, or suggestions for further enquiry be directed to me through the wiki, or directly via this website.

The objective is to make this wiki into an accurate tool for use by designers and students, manufacturers and consumers, who are working with issues of ecological textile design, production and use.

The over-riding message from my research is that the key to understanding the issues inherent in any specific design, production or usage question can be found by conducting a 'lifecycle analysis' of that item. By breaking down the processes, materials, energy expenditure, use etc, and then subsequently applying new and informed ideas to the lifecycle (for example, amongst many strategies 'design for disassembly', or 'take-back') better practises can be applied.

Transparent information leads to understanding, which enables designers, manufacturers and consumers to make choices. Choices will lead to change."
