The Royal Society of Arts - the Royal Society of Arts. Highly influential, opinion forming, membership organisation which has the excellent Initiative 'towards a zero waste society' Lectures, information, student design competitions.

 

Kate Fletcher - eco-textile researcher, consultant and phd expert. Site is witty and informative.

 

Eco design fair - promotes ecological, fair trade, ethical, hand made, locally produced, light carbon footprints, environmentally friendly design, products and services, through a range of activities, including the 'sustainable design directory, and eco fairs.

 

International Feltmakers Association - worldwide community of feltmakers.

 

Anti-Apathy - promotes green and ethical issues, particularly good on ethical fashion.

 

Ecoinspiration - new company promoting ecological and allergy free interior design products of a high aesthetic and contemporary standard.

 

Fine Fayre - promotes designer-makers, including ecological companies with e-commerce and philanthropic resource sharing.

 

The Journal of Sustainable Product Design - from The Centre for Sustainable Design. Back copies contain cutting edge articles in accessible language.

 

Knitchicks - great site for knitters, linking to lots of individual makers. Recently updated (Spring 2006), it is about to become more of a magazine with articles, and dates to meet, knit, and talk!

 

Wear Organic - pesticide information web site with good links for organic cotton, fair trade, and opportunities to source materials from develping countries.

 

Chris Carey's Collections - website for London waste textiles which is very informative. This is a  friendly, helpful company which is happy to work with designers and students alike.
